From its earliest days, Masorti has been a strong supporter of the Zionist project and today we contribute to building a pluralist religious future in Israel.

The state financed, too often corrupt, Orthodox monopoly on Jewish religious life in Israel undermines respect for Judaism and limits the perception of what being religiously Jewish can mean in the modern world.
Despite these challenges Masorti in Israel continues to grow, with 80+ communities, Tali school programs in Israeli public schools, the Schechter Institute and the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem and much, much more.
Our Zionist organization Mercaz Olami actively participates in the forums of the international Zionist movement and helps build support for Masorti in Israel.
Mercaz-Masorti Australasia is our regional representative organization and is in turn an affiliate of the Zionist Federation of Australia.

Mercaz represents the interests of Masorti Jews through the Zionist movement.

Our activities include advocating for: recognition of our rabbonim, equality for women, equality of access to the Kotel and breaking the orthodox monopoly on state funding for rabbis and synagogues.

MERCAZ does this by sending delegates to participate in the meetings of the World Zionist Congress, which represents the diaspora in Israel and has considerable influence with members of the Knesset.

MERCAZ has strength in Israeli forums because of its weight of numbers. Our voting power is directly related to the number of members we have.

Mercaz also gives financial support to Australian youth through grants to young people undertaking the leadership studies and training of the Masorti youth movement NOAM Olami.
